Moelis Promotes Four I-Bankers to Managing Director

Moelis & Company has promoted four senior vice presidents in its global investment banking business to managing director.

The boutique advisory firm has been climbing its way up Thomson Reuters' restructuring league tables and is now ranked fourth. It worked on 22 deals worth $54 billion this year, more than double the number of deals it worked on in 2009.

Two of the promotions are going to Zul Jamal and Peijie Shiu, who are both based in New York. Jamal specializes in distressed companies. Previously he was a senior vice president at Jefferies, where he working on restructuring. Shiu has experience in risk and sales and trading and previously worked as a quantitative analyst and executive director at UBS, where he worked with fixed income products.

Another of the new MDs, Michael Magliana, is based in London and has experience with private equity and M&A. Before joining Moelis, he was an executive director in the European financial sponsor group at JPMorgan in London.

The fourth, Charles Noel-Johnson, is based in London/Dubai and also works in M&A. Before coming to Moelis he was an executive director at Close Brothers Corporate Finance in London in the European restructuring and refinancing group. He also worked at JPMorgan in London and New York.
